Living in the CSRA
The Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) is a metropolitan area encompassing five counties in the Georgia and South Carolina region. All five counties in the area border the Savannah River, and the largest cities within the CSRA are Augusta, Georgia and Aiken, South Carolina.
According to the 2000 Census, the Aiken-Augusta metropolitan area had a population of 477,441, making it the 87th largest in the nation and second largest in the State of Georgia.
Due to various entrances and highways going into Savannah River Site, living in either Aiken, Augusta, or Barnwell is just a short commute, ensuring convenience and a practical lifestyle to all SRS employees. The map below illustrates the location of SRS in comparison to the CSRA.
